SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO (Uchuu Senkan Yamato) is an animé produced in Japan by Yoshinobu Nishizaki (creation), Leiji Matsumoto (direction), N. Ishiguro (animation), e H. Miyagawa (soundtrack) and by Nippon Columbia Studio. It tells the adventures of the space destroyer Yamato adapted for space trips in the year 2199 from the remains of the WW2 sunken Japanese destroyer Yamato. Its wreckage on the bottom of the ocean rose to be the last thread of resistance against the Gamilon invasion. In fact, the cartoon made a great reference to the Japanese navy and their battles. Besides, it is debated if the Gamilons were any reference to the Americans. The show had 3 full seasons and 5 feature-length films.
