na web, me deparei com um fórum (aqui) onde postaram uma possível explicação
sobre a origem e significado da insígnia da Federação em Jornada nas Estrelas
que aparece em uma conversa de Zephram Cochrane e Adrik Thorsen*1 personagens
do livro Federation*2 de
Judith e Garfield Reeves-Stevens.
“A
estrela representa a velocidade da luz. A ponta de flecha acima da estrela
representa a curva de gasto energético (a massa aumenta com a velocidade). A
curva fechando a ponta por baixo, como um ‘U invertido e caído para um lado’, representa o
gasto de energia final para meu superpropulsor. É bem abaixo do infinito,
facilmente obtido com uma reação de matéria-antimatéria. Observe como a curva se
afasta ligeiramente do gasto de energia padrão do espaço-tempo normal.”

Em meados do século 21, Zefram Cochrane foi o inventor do "superpropulsor
de flutuação" - mais tarde chamado de "propulsão de dobra" (warp drive); Adrik Thorsen foi o chefe
do Movimento Optimum, um movimento neonazista, que pregava a
"limpeza" da raça ao eliminar os fracos e deformados.

which posted a possible explanation of the origin and meaning of the Federation
insignia on Star Trek that appears on a Zephram Cochrane and Adrik Thorsen*1
talk, characters in the book “Federation”*2 by Judith and Garfield
Reeves-Stevens:
“FYI
the first diagram is of a star, representing light speed. The next stage has an
inverted V over the top of the star representing the energy expenditure curve
(the faster you go, the more massive you are). The final stage has an additional
inverted V added below the star, offset slightly to the right representing
"the literal, bottom-line energy expenditure for my superimpellor. It's
well below infinity, easily obtainable from a basic matter-antimatter reaction.
But look how it's offset--separated--from the standard energy expenditure of
normal space-time"

"fluctuation superimpellor" – later called "warp drive"; Adrik
Thorsen was the head of the Optimum Movement, a Nazi-like movement which preached
the ‘cleansing’ of the race by eliminating the weak and deformed.
